Every day we are faced with a bewildering number and complexity of decisions. So how do we decide what actions are best? At the LDM lab, we study the neural and computational mechanisms that drive our decisions. Specifically, we are interested in how decisions are shaped not only by our past experiences, but also by our internal biases, current environment, and needs.
Unique to our lab is that we do more than measure which decisions people make, and what is concurrently happening in their brains: We also intervene in neural processes to determine the exact role of neural circuits (through brain stimulation) and chemistry (through psychopharmacology) in driving our decisions.
Our long-term mission is to improve the lives of those struggling with their mental health (including OCD, Parkinson’s disease, depression, Autism, ADHD), together with our clinical collaborators.
